Our lab member Atakan recently presented at EEBST 2026 in Mersin. His talk focused on the Random Encounter Model (REM), an innovative camera trap-based density estimation method, and highlighted our ongoing research on the endemic, endangered Anatolian mouflon.
During the presentation, he provided an overview of the current status of the Anatolian mouflon and introduced our study sites in the Karaman and Konya regions. He detailed our field implementation of the REM, our data analysis process, and our preliminary findings. The session concluded with a discussion on the practical applicability, strengths, and limitations of using REM in field studies.
